Poem: The Other Shoulder
I am the devil on your shoulder
I am your cruel intent
I am bittersweet nothings
I am love’s rules bent
I exist to displease
Via pleasure and torrid desire
I stalk, taunt and hunt
I add fuel to your fire
I’m dangerous, my pet
I’m bad news wrought
Overdose on me
And your addiction can’t be fought
I’m a wolf in snake’s clothing
Skin smooth, leathery and cold
I am heaven signed, stamped, and delivered
For those who rarely do as told
So consider this a warning, darling
This is your last, little chance
The cards are on the table
Is the ante worth the penance?
I am your cruel intent
I am bittersweet nothings
I am love’s rules bent
I exist to displease
Via pleasure and torrid desire
I stalk, taunt and hunt
I add fuel to your fire
I’m dangerous, my pet
I’m bad news wrought
Overdose on me
And your addiction can’t be fought
I’m a wolf in snake’s clothing
Skin smooth, leathery and cold
I am heaven signed, stamped, and delivered
For those who rarely do as told
So consider this a warning, darling
This is your last, little chance
The cards are on the table
Is the ante worth the penance?
